Contentious first goals for Ipswich 11:21 - Feb 10 with 887 viewsMiaow

After George Hirst's goal against Burnley, I was thinking that he isn't the only Town player in recent years whose first goal for the club was one which could have gone down as an own goal.

Kayden Jackson got his first in the League Cup at Exeter(?), the match which I think we lost on penalties (I want to say Troy Brown scored and Lee Martin got the winner in the shoot-out) and Paul Hurst wasn't very pleased afterwards. I remember that goal was possibly deflected in from a tight angle.

Joe Pigott's goal at Burton early last season was another which was a questionable one.

Would be a shame to take 50% of Pigott's Ipswich goals away from him though.

Marc Burchill.

Got the faintest of flicks on Hermann's header when he did the stage-dive.

That's an excellent shout.

I'm just too young to remember it but I do recall seeing it on the old Road to Europe DVD and he seemed to divert it in.

Now now, don't be so harsh on the goal machine - it would actually be 33.3% of his total as he also got one at Gillingham in the Trophy... although you're right about his league tally. And the other one was a penalty at home to Wimbledon.

I did actually feel slightly sorry for him last season as he seemed to hit the woodwork a number of times and so could have had a few more, but alas.

Broadhead's definitely took a knick off Flint as he volleyed from the edge of the area I thought.

Can't take his hattrick goal away from him, though...
