Think it's easily forgotten that Burton did give us a few things to think about 17:37 - Mar 4 with 1012 viewsMullet

Especially early doors, it was a bit flat and they had a go. Something not many teams we've put goals past like that have done. Their form prior to this was decent too given their league position.

Think that beyond the obvious quality of the play yielding those goals, we are back to racking up clean sheets again like the early season form.

Win on Tuesday and we go to a Bolton who might be less than confident!

Fair play to them, they really had a go and in honesty, on balance, they were probably the better team for the first 20/25 minutes of the game, but they didn’t ever really look like scoring and you just felt that when that intensity inevitably dropped, we’d have plenty of space to assert ourselves. I’d never have gone for that half time score line though, it seemed a bit harsh on Burton and the shift they put in, but we were so clinical for once, that on reflection, you couldn’t say it wasn’t deserved.

I’m very surprised they turned up and tried to play football against us tbh, they’d have been far better off sitting back and frustrating us, as several teams have done previously.

I think Burton look like a good L1 team - they have clearly improved significantly since the new manager came in and were I think 4th or 5th in the form table before today's match. But today, Town were just too strong - we weathered the heavy press they played in the first 20 minutes, and unsurprisingly they couldn't play at that intensity for the rest of the half. Once that press lapsed, we took them apart. For the first time in almost forever, I think every player in our team was excellent. Absolutely chuffed to bits tonight

Our midfield was lost in that first 20-25mins we never put in any passes to open them up. But credit to Burton as they tried to play football, although they went to pieces after the 1st goal

I haven’t forgotten. It was a tense first 20 mins, although we defended pretty well.

Edit - yes you’re spot on about their form too. They’ve had a good run; something like winning 4 of the last 6 and only losing once before today. They were talking about it on iFollow. Until our first I was wondering if it was going to be another one of those days.

Before kick off, Burton were on better 6-match form than us. Their last 6 away have been 3 wins and 3 defeats. I was expecting a much closer result than we got.

Any win at this level is a decent result. On to the next hard battle for another 3 points. We need to be even more relentless than Plymouth and that is going to be a very tough ask. COYB!

They had nothing up top, yes played well but we're never going to win against us, tidy team no end product,
