For the first time in seems like years, the big take away from yesterday's game 13:09 - Mar 12 with 1055 viewsurbanblue

I never thought we were going to throw it away. I mean, I haven't thought that for so long ...

... massive step forward!

Luongo is massive in MF..We are so much more dogged and solid with him in there. Alongside Morsy....We haven't conceded in any of his games.. It's a team effort, but his nous, positioning and general bossiness is helping us to snuff teams out higher up the pitch, imo. Which is giving defence some extra protection. Defence and keeper playing well and getting the plaudits, rightly so. But we are snuffing out more passes and crosses "from source", imo.

The strength we showed both physically and mentally was superb on Saturday and a big factor in our win.

Not sure I was quite as confident as Charles was stepping up to take that penalty but I agree with your point. First half was such a good, professional away performance against a strong side with excellent home form. Silenced the crowd, grew into the game, controlled possession in the right areas and got the lead that our performance deserved. Probably the best 45 minutes of the season all things considered. After the penalty we managed the game really well, got the crucial 2nd and thereafter we did an expert job of killing that game. Never really allowed them to get any momentum other than a couple of corners. We took the sting out of it completely and I thought KM's subs were really good in terms of the timings and personnel. Harness has looked poor of late IMO and lacking in confidence but his cameo was excellent, really stretched them on the break and full of running. On another day he could've converted that chance Burns created for him. I thought JD for Clarke made a lot of sense as well, he's such a good 1-on-1 defender. Freddie for Hirst just as he was flagging too. And then the fresh legs of Jackson and Edwards late on for an understandably knackered Broadhead and Burns.

Pretty textbook performance with the exception of the penalty.

Riding the pressure for the 45 - 60 minute period, was where we won that match

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
