Southgate is incredibly successful compared to most England Managers, and, as a lot of that has been put down to the team spirit that he has managed to generate, we should all cut him some slack when he picks players who have never let him down.
Last 16 or Last 8 is par for England. Southgate has massively over-performed as England Manager, and has therefore earned credit.
