America is such a vast country with so many communities in it that in a sense, it is essentially tens of different countries under one flag.
It has liberal areas that are extremely forward thinking and which has pushed the boundaries within the film, and which also has a massive porn industry. But it also has the Bible Belt which is responsible for a lot of ultra backward thinking.
