Bottom line is that every pen was nailed on, every red was nailed on and the only thing vaguely controversial was that Elliott could have been sent off earlier and they could comfortably have had four reds that night. | | | |

Bottom line is that every pen was nailed on, every red was nailed on and the only thing vaguely controversial was that Elliott could have been sent off earlier and they could comfortably have had four reds that night. |
The only slight irritation they could possibly have was for the straight red for Whitlow who seemed to stumble rather than deliberately take out Stewart. But, really, fk ‘em. They came to fk around and got found out. And the stupid thing was, they were a very good team stacked with quality players. No need for them to try and rough us up. |  |

That was a second yellow whatever the TV said later, Knight let Whitlow off a second yellow on five or six occasions. Holdsworth handled the ball before the free kick they scored their first from too.
Had Bolton kept their composure then theynwould probably have won that tie but they lost it completely. Knight was generous to them but they just kept pushing it. [Post edited 20 May 2023 10:38]

No, it really was controversial. They should have been down to nine far earlier and eight by the end. The ref was lenient with them and their attempted bullying.
Oh and that animal Whitlow had already been booked so straight red or yellow for the rugby tackle, he was toast regardless. If I’m wrong and he hadn’t been booked for his antics with Stewart, Magilton and Knight earlier, he should have been.
