Yes, there will be plenty of people at Oakwell, Plymouth etc that had no interest in going on the pitch, stayed in the stands and might have even had a view on it. However, literally no ground/fanbase has ever boo’ed it’s own fans for doing so and celebrating (let alone when it’s for the clubs first promotion in 20+ years). That’s the difference at Ipswich, we have some absolute melts in our ranks. This nannying everyone I’m sure is quite fashionable these days for some though.

All clubs will obviously put out statements before hand and toe the EFL line. The same club will use the Morsy held aloft pictures for years to come and really didn’t mind the way it was done, just like the players obviously loved it, as the footage showed.

Alternatively, the pitch invasion moment felt like it was an hour or so late given promotion was signed and sealed in the first half.

I have no problem with how our pitch invasion played out. Fine if people wanted to cross a pitch invasion off their bucket list, take selfies, share the moment with the players as soon as they could celebrate or whatever.

But also fine it petered out too and the team/stadium celebration could still happen for the majority.

And of course it doesn’t really compare to the much more understandable and spontaneous outpouring of excitement and relief at the final whistle/shoot out win for Barnsley and Sheffield Weds fans. Or indeed our own Bolton play-off win. None of that felt forced in the slightest.
