The Archers on 18:36 - Jun 9 with 951 views | Illinoisblue | I like the fact it’s still going despite my memories of the voices all sounding a mixture of earnestly middle class yokel. County cricket, speedway, Archers…. It’s good to have these institutions survive.

The Archers on 18:28 - Jun 9 by Tangledupin_Blue | Some of the story lines are just brilliant. Recently, for example; we had the saga of the highly educated Jim Lloyd losing his glasses. The suspense was(n't) unbelievable. Turned out he'd left them on the chip van counter. The idea that the script writers want us to think it credible that a man like Jim, known as 'The Prof', would only have one pair of specs is another matter. [Post edited 9 Jun 2023 18:31]

Some of the plotlines recently have been pretty silly - this has at least once previously been a sign of the incumbent Editor desperately trying to jazz things up before they leave - but fair play to them for having some really excellent ones too. The one on coercive control, currently revived as Evil Rob is visiting the UK from Canada for his mother's funeral, raised a great deal of awareness when first broadcast a few years ago; and there've been others on addictions to alcohol & gambling, lifelong trauma arising from childhood abuse (Jim Lloyd again, a particularly moving one); racism, gay marriage, bereavement etc.
