Match review and player thoughts 17:48 - Aug 12 with 2014 views | unstableblue | Well that was good wasn’t it?! Superb atmosphere at kick-off with Stoke playing their part. I do think the tannoy was just a little too continuous and loud at the start of the game, which drowned out some of the atmosphere. I think that is a superb result and performance against a good Stoke side, who had their moment at the start of the second half. But our defence was extremely good, with strong lines and aerial defence. Firstly isn’t it so good to be the true home team, in charge, yes Stoke had a little more possession. But throughout the game we were on the front foot - 22 shots to their 9. The negative attitude from managers of the recent past is over. Some of the interplay between Morsy, Luongo, Broadhead, Hirst and Davis was superb at times. Wolfenden had his best game in a Town shirt, another level. Amazed if bids don’t come in for him if this continues. Morsy MOTM was a bit silly given Luke’s performance. I thought Chaplin had one of his weaker games. But scruffy on the ball. And I’d love him to get a goal soon. I really liked Luongo today, especially in the second half. The weakest performance in the early stages of the second half was the crowd - couldn’t quite get the rhythm going between the new Cobbold group and the lower North. Come on people - back the team when they’re under the cosh. But the atmosphere was great for long periods. Another mention for Hladky, exuded confidence, and some superb short play, and good punching. This run of games and form is doing him the world of good. I spoke to Walton before the game and he’s clearly gutted to be out. Hope his recovery is good. But we have a good stand in, although it can be a bit heart in mouth at times. Hirst put in some serious work, what a shift. Not many clear chances but he bullied their defence. Broadhead - wasn’t probably his best game… BUT at the same time he was the best technical player on the pitch. He has a wand of a foot. Struggling to remember a better quality player we’ve had in recent times. As for the subs, well first off amazed Leigh didn’t come on for Davis as he was blown and carrying a knock. But I thought Harness and Jackson were superb. Jackson was a great change and fitted the pattern of the game perfectly and scored. In summary the dark days are over… this is technical and expansive football, with players and staff who truly care and a fan base who are completely engaged… love every minute people.

Match review and player thoughts on 17:59 - Aug 12 with 1905 views | N2_Blue | Was beginning to get worried, had to wait until your last sentence for technical football! :) Pretty much agree with all that. Today was the best I’ve ever seen Wolfenden and I want some of what Massimo is on, incredible engine and Morsy showing he can boss things for us much as he did last season.

I had to get technical in there, surely? because it is so what we are. And I frickin love it!! Getting a run of fitness out of Luongo has been transformational for Ipswich. When he’s fit and bringing all his trickery and performance, well he’s a top championship player. And up with Broadhead as one of our best.

Match review and player thoughts on 18:19 - Aug 12 with 1762 views | pointofblue | Double O in Woolfenden. Admittedly, there have been struggles in getting Hirst's name right, let alone one with ten letters! I was thinking during the game that, if he continues on this path, he will get interest from elsewhere. I do think, with his laid back mentality, moving to a club with the right management in place will be key. But hopefully we won't have to think about that for a while. Agree he should have been Man of the Match over (an albeit excellent) Morsy. That was phenomenal. Enjoyed every minute and backs up that we can go toe to toe with the top sides. I still think, once the players settle, Stoke will be involved in the play off battle so three points is a great return. As an aside, on the prediction game I went with Sunderland winning 2-1 last week and Stoke 2-0 this week. Perhaps I'll go for 1-0 to QPR next time around.

We will obviously sign a couple of players before the window ends but we have an amazing squad now. When harness and Jackson came on I said to my friend this is why we need more depth but they both done very well. We are in a good place at last as it’s been hard work for many years.

I do still think there is a slightly steep drop off in quality from the first XI to the bench. It helped that Chaplin and Broadhead had quiet games, for their standards - it nulified the drop off, and Harness and Jackson were both superb when they came on. A bit more depth won't go amiss, though.

Amazed QPR won today, thought they’d go into a nosedive.

I didn’t mention Burns… he was strong today on 19:15 - Aug 12 with 1561 views | unstableblue | I’m one of those who wondered if Burns would make the step up But he was excellent today. Good running and some great crosses. None more so than the Jackson goal. I know a Broadhead and Chaplin weren’t fully firing today. But when those two, Hirst and Burns combine with the one touch interplay. We are just very exciting to watch and also dangerous. The league is going to wake up to this… but four players to increase the marking and focus is a lot to handle!!

Looks like QPR changed it up and went 4-4-effin-2 today; I'm surprised Ainsworth didn't have a crack at that before now.

Match review and player thoughts on 19:56 - Aug 12 with 1428 views | Yallop2 | Great review although I would say Broadhead and Chaplin were better than your thinking especially first half where they picked up the ball in some dangerous areas and had some great interplay. I agree it'd be good if Chaplin could grab a goal or two next week

That interplay between Chaplin with Broadhead for a shot blocked by the keeper was sheer poetry. I do agree Broadhead was good, but by his standards he has another level. Chaplin had some great moments linking play, but overall not at this best. As I’ve mentioned though our front 4 are just so exciting and dangerous. And Harness, Jackson and Hutchison are great subs, based on today.

Broadhead was fantastic for the first half hour but as he drifted out of the game Chaplin came into it. Chappers is a very difficult customer to deL with coming fro.m the areas he likes to work in and second half had quite a few opportunities to release Burns some of which he took and some he didn't.. There really wasn't a weakness in the side today.
