It's sad that none of them have made it to their 90s, Hurst himself is 81. I think Bobby Charlton might have been the oldest survivor.

My Mum used to work in Upminster with Geoff Hurst's girlfriend, later to become his wife, and often used to chat to him when he came to pick her up from work. She has always been fairly oblivious to football, so to her, he was just the other half of one of her colleagues, so wasn't at all star struck when he'd come there even after scoring the World Cup winning hat-trick, despite the number of people that often used to gather outside after that event, to catch him for an autograph. |  |
