I know i've said it before, but I still don't know why we don't utilise the u21 games to give seniors game time. (You're allowed 3 seniors I believe)

I get the argument that it's not competitive.... But surely any game of football for 90 minutes is constructive to keeping you match fit, whilst also being able to pass on your knowledge to the youngsters.

For me the likes of Tuenzebe, Ball, JD, walton especially would benefit from games regardless of level.

Is the level that low that it really doesn't help physically in any way? genuine question here

a niche perspective

Think they feel there's not a lot of challenge for them and that training every day is a better preparation.

I'm quite surprised too to be honest. I get training is pretty intense, but there's an element of playing a proper 11 a side match against someone that's not from your team that cannot be replicated.

If anything, minutes in the legs and a chance to get into a matchday routine is also beneficial.

The U21 matches aren't always intense.

The small sided matches and match related sessions they'll do on a daily basis will deliver a very large proportion of what is needed. It's also likely to be at a level that the U21s (movement, tactics, skill etc.) are likely not quite at.
