Stuart Watson's wise words 09:38 - Jan 2 with 1159 views | DJR | FESTIVE REFLECTIONS Is your glass half-full or half-empty? It's got to be the former, surely. Yes, Ipswich are now winless in five games either side of the festive period. Break it down though and the Blues outplayed Norwich in an emotionally-charged game, very much deserved a draw against a table-topping Leicester side averaging a frankly ridiculous 2.5 points a game and have just taken a point at a Stoke side that are now unbeaten in six. That's three performances that could easily have yielded more points. Leeds was just one of those days, that can happen against an attack of their quality, while the below-par QPR stalemate comes with the major asterisk of Town having been without five key players. There's certainly no disgrace in either of those results. A relentless period of four games in 10 games has been navigated. Town have taken some punches, emptied the tank but very much remain on their feet. With 26 games played, Ipswich have still only lost to two different teams in the Championship. They remain three-points clear of Southampton after the latter dropped points against our feathered friends this weekend. The 55 points on the board is already more than what six Championship teams finished on last season. A point-per-game between now and the end of this campaign (relegation form) would be enough to hit the play-off securing average of 75. This scenario would have been beyond all our wildest dreams back in July. Keep reminding yourself of that. Also, let me take you back to January 2 last year when Ipswich huffed and puffed against 10-man Lincoln to draw on the road. That was in the middle of a one win in eight leagues games winter run that sparked fears of the wheels coming off. We all know what happened after that. Breath. There's now two weeks for Davis to recover from a calf strain and Town to find a George Hirst replacement in the transfer market. No doubt there will be extra strengthening on top of that too. There were always going to be bumps in the road at some point. There may well be some more to come in the immediate future. This club remains on an upward trajectory though. Keep enjoying the journey.

Stuart Watson's wise words on 09:46 - Jan 2 with 1017 views | Guthrum | That is a very good summary of the situation. Only if we start believing our rival fans' propaganda ("Ipswich will fade") should we be downcast at the recent situation. Having been careful in the summer, I'm pretty sure we've built in at least a bit of leeway in the transfer market and that Ashton and the recruitment team will have been on the task for months already. It's not like the areas to strengthen were a mystery just now revealed.
