I had a negative feeling about today. I worried about losing Morsy, lack of focal point up top, recent injuries to Clarke and Davis so they wouldn't have been 100%, a new midfield, no Luongo. It's quite ok to feel we weren't going to win against a decent side challenging for the play offs.

I predicted a draw. Sunderland don't concede many. I thought Jackson and Edmundson had a decent game. Travis and Sarmiento looked very good.
A draw would have left us second and gained a point on Leicester. Delighted to maintain a gap on Southampton and close the one to Leicester a fraction. Now to beat them next match and set us up for the rest of the season. [Post edited 13 Jan 2024 20:57]

Yes, but it's not always just about us but the opposition too. I do think we're a much poorer team without Morsy but I'm really impressed with Travis. Things are looking brighter and maybe with a new 9 or two, things are looking good. Remember we haven't been scoring for fun recently either so its ok going into a match not expecting to win. We shouldn't expect to win, but I really enjoyed that today. | |

Travis was excellent.
I did feel it was another game taylor wasn't quite up to the standard. I know he's maybe one for a season or two but Travis came in and he didn't look out of place and that was his debut where as taylor still looks a bit lost and his passing isn't that consistent.
But. He's our player and training with great players.
But Travis and a morsy combo is going to be great. |  |

Travis had much more forward intent than any of our central midfielders (Morsy and Luongo included). I am still not convinced by Taylor but he had a better game today than some I have seen from him. | |
