Looking back at the game and timings 00:12 - Aug 18 with 1504 views | FrimleyBlue | I think it's clear as KM mentioned that we were playing with undercooked players. Absolutely the prem is very different to the previous leagues.. but when was the last time you saw a KM side after 60 minutes blowing out if its ar5se and struggling to keep up with play. Think the general play was fantastic up to that point but I think it really showed how our pre season issues with squad size and lack of minutes for players have given us a bit of a handicap for this first month of the season really.

I agree the lack of bodies might have hindered us in pre-season but with 7-weeks back in training, which is more than a lot more of premier clubs, I don't think fitness levels are lacking. More that we had to 'go into thd red' to match Liverpool in the first hour of the game.

I agree - fitness levels were ok. And that an awful lot was expended first half (to good effect). Other factors: lots of change in personnel, the club itself. New players coming in, injuries to key players, the loss of Burns who gave us ‘an out’, the excitement around starting in the PL and above all, the relentless quality of the opposition. Lots to do, lots to learn, players to return, one or two additions. There were plenty of positives from yesterday. Above all, the players kept going, the crowd stayed with the team right to the end.

You also have to take into consideration that Liverpool have 0 new players this summer. That team is tactically one of the best in the world so even more impressive that we made them look ordinary in the first half. I felt that we lost a bit of drive and energy in midfield but that's been rectified now with Phillips and Cajuste.

We’re no longer going to be the fittest team in the league. And there’s no team better at it than Liverpool. We also missed Burns’ outlet massively when he went off.

Totally understandable given the pre-season we’ve had. Add in the heat, amazing opposition, occasion and intensity then it’s no wonder we looked a little tired later on. Same can be said for a few others.
