I don't understand the context at all. Did Grant Hanley attempt suicide?
You could make a joke about suicide that is funny, but it is very difficult to get the tone right. For example, if someone who attempted suicide made a joke about it, then it could be some very dark humour. Making fun of someone for mental health problems is not funny.
