One gripe from me 18:01 - Aug 31 with 1899 viewsbluelagos

The stewards in the 2nd half who decided to try and get people to sit down in block J.

Given no one had complained about them standing - the stewards created a flashpoint by their actions that clearly didn't go down well with fans who have been happily standing at the back of the block for years.

Standing up at a game of football isn't a crime as far as I am aware - and when you are literally blocking no ones view then what on earth were they thinking?

Stewards need to stop people standing because, if they don't, standing becomes cultural & large groups standing up in seated areas is dangerous.

Why do you think standing is dangerous? Thousands of Ipswich fans have been doing it for years in the North stand with zero problems.

Think those boxes behind will be done shortly - probably pre-emptive?

I thought this at the liverpool game, feels like a new emphasis this year as where I sit in Cobbold stewards were on it quickly, even when standing for a faraway corner.

The cynic in me wondered whether its some kind of premier league rule around the additional tv cameras and not blocking them?

There could be a few reasons why IMO. Maybe now we are in the Premier League there is more focus on us and adhering to the rules, possibility of fines? With the new safe standing area, maybe we have to be more vigilant in those areas which aren't.

People have always stood for key moments, it's part of the game but to remain standing is a bit rubbish as there could easily be people behind you who can't or don't want to stand all game long.

It amazes me how upset people get when the rules are very clearly outlined before they buy their tickets. If you want to stand all game then go to the relevant section.

You do know that stewards aren't just there to prevent and solve crimes, don't you? You might be thinking of the police. Or Jessica Fletcher.

I thought stewards are there primarily for our safety.

I fail to see how creating an argument with about 20-30 people for standing up, as they have been doing without any problems for years, enhanced anyone's safety.
