I can actually hear the Liverpool fans! 16:44 - Sep 1 with 1253 viewsthebooks

The Luis Diaz song to Bela Ciao is pretty cool.

We’re obviously a lot better than Man United.

I have noticed that compared to Portman Rd a lot of grounds and fans seem quiet especially when home side concedes. The times we have conceded at home this season, there’s been a moment of stunned silence and then the crowd gets vocal and behind the team again. I think it’s going to be another influencing factor this season.

McKenna even commented on that…

“I think the supporters have been fantastic, the atmosphere around the game has been excellent.

“I have to say that when Fulham scored a goal today where we dropped our level, but they executed really well, the crowd all start clapping and singing a song and that’s a brilliant boost to have for the players and it’s going to be hard to keep that over 38 games, over 19 home games, but that’s we’re going to hope for.

“That’s the support that will give us the best chance and the supporters have had a fantastic part in what we’ve done over the last couple of years and have played a fantastic part in the first couple of games here.”

Note to self, must read all stories.

I will add that I’ve been going to Portman Rd for 40+ years, which includes the last few years of the Robson reign, the Lyall and Burley promotions among the poorer years but I don’t remember the atmosphere as electric as it has been for the last 12+ months. Maybe it’s just me but it all has seemed more fun and emotional than the other years, although Wembley and Reuser pushed it close.

So many of the big boys won’t give a single toss about us, and won’t get excited and roar teams on when we play them.

We’ll be good again... one day
