He clearly had his faults but he was perhaps unique as a leader in the UK because when he stood down in 2014 his political stock was high, although obviously not amongst Unionists.

I don't get the love for Neill.Yes he can give people a hard time and it's good viewing but his own views seem to imply that he knows more than the international scientific, meteorological, economic and medical communities combined. He's never wrong.

I can't say I loved him because he was too right wing for me but he never let his politics get in the way of his forensic interviewing skills, which Johnson was too frit to face in 2019.
