Beyond awful. What the hell has he seen, the ball can ONLY change that direction which is in line with Downes leg going in if Downes gets the ball and he got it cleanly.

Cards for this have to be overturned retrospectively so players aren't at risk of bans. Of course Downes is going to question the ref its an awful awful decision and no human would be able to contain themselves in the face of injustice. It just puts total doubt in players even tackling and at that point we move to tag football. Am looking forward to that day!!
