I’ve been pondering the same thing. I have a few dollar payments to settle and am wondering whether to do it first thing. Most of the budget has been leaked anyway so not sure it will have a dramatic effect. I can’t imagine that the likely political turmoil the back end of next week will do much to strengthen the dollar, but I’m far from an expert.

Our invoice terms are that we have to pay a lot of dollars out within next 10 days.

I’m thinking it might be wise to pre buy.

Say it’s 1.29 atm, it’s not going to go up to 1.35 but it could quite easily drop to <1.20 - that would c cost us a lot.

I think I’m gonna order in the morning.

Edit. I also think that the stronger Trump gets, the stronger the dollar will get.

Personally if trump wins the dollar will rise. If he loses and contests it will harm the dollar for as long as it drags on, and I suspect he will try every legal and illegal route possible

From my broker.......

Morning mate

I’m away back tonight

The budget usually has minimal impact on FX markets since most policies are pre-announced in the media, though unexpected announcements could create some volatility.

Key focus for USD this week is Friday’s jobs data; a strong report may boost USD as it could prompt the Fed to reconsider slowing rate cuts.

Main focus next week: Tuesday, Nov 5, marks the U.S. Presidential Election. A Trump victory is expected to strengthen the USD, attributed to his pro-business stance.

the thing about markets is that many, many analysts are already using their crystal balls to project forward. So the current price tends to reflect reality and a balanced view of what might happen next. So betting either way is just exactly that.

I think I'll just pay them today rather than take the risk. I won't fool myself that I know what I'm doing! Cheers for the info.

I think you’ll find that a certain imminent event in the states at more or less the same time which is an unknown quantity will have far more effect than a budget that has been fully briefed already
