Best places to park for the tube 15:56 - Jan 3 with 1367 viewsBlueDouglas

Planning on heading to London in a few weeks and being a bit of a tight-arse i thought the cheapest way to get there would be drive then park somewhere near a tube stop.

Can anyone recommend a good place to aim for?

All depends on where you're coming from, and where you want to go. The authorities tend to be pretty keyed-up to parking near tube stations, so expect there to be plenty of residents-only type restrictions.

I tend to park in the car park at Epping if I'm arriving early enough to guarantee a space. Otherwise your best bet might be looking at an app like JustPark and finding a driveway or suchlike. I've often parked at Sainsburys at Stanmore for £5 when I've visited Wembley/Lords, and it's significantly cheaper than other more official options.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

My stock answer to this is Leytonstone (assuming you're coming from north east of London, down the M11/A12). It has a reasonable size car park which is £7/£5 depending on day or time. The station is on the central line and the last station going east before it splits - so every train stops there.

Going west, it's two stops to Stratford where you can pick up the Elizabeth or Jubilee lines or remain on the central line.

Parking in Westfield at Stratford isn't too expensive either by comparison but choose your car park wisely if you want to get on the train/tube as some are a bit of hike from the station.

Brentwood is our goto parking these days, Elizabeth line straight into London, a bit further out but save a lot of traffic :o)

Always used to be Newbury Park but that’s in the ULEZ now so always go to Epping.

As said though Shenfield is a good option these days with the Liz Line.

I come down the A1 and find Canons Park best for Wembley and anything near the jubilee line. The station car park is fairly big, reasonably priced and there can be on road spaces if you are very lucky.

Do you have a non-ULEZ compliant vehicle? What is it if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah it’s not compliment, checked it on the online checker when Newbury Park was added into ULEZ zone.

I parked at Epping for the West Ham game and Central Line is a good link into London - I was coming from the North however. Potters Bar for Arsenal which is a quick train ride into centre.
