Is Saturday when Town ‘click’ into gear? 15:48 - Feb 20 with 1331 viewsunstableblue

Over the last few seasons Dec, Jan and early Feb have tended to be mixed… losses to Leeds, Maidstone, Preston, draws to West Brom, Stoke… before kicking into gear and going on a run. In League 1 we’d really slipped back in the same period with a myriad of draws and losses to the likes of Wycombe, Pompey, Oxford, Lincoln, Plymouth, and memorably Bristol Rovers on Valentine’s - before going on a ballistic run.

Just felt at Villa Park that we were beginning to see some of the belief, momentum and passages of play return. Players such as OShea, Cajuste, Delap are established. Clarke, Phillips and Johnson beginning to settle. Depth improving with Jaden and Godfrey. And the goalkeeper issues seemingly tackled with safe palms Palmer.

It’s a shame Spurs are getting their real talent going forward back - although still no Solanke. But their defence remains a little weaker and central midfield can be got at.

I just feel the McKenna Premier League side and project is perhaps maturing. Clicking into gear. Just really need some belief and energy, and the home crowd backing.

I’d kill for a win to take to Old Trafford, a tall order if you match up player for player.

Time for the home crowd to fire up. The away ends this season have been remarkable. And we’ve certainly had some results on the road.

I'd love us to double Spurs*. Take your valid points about previous seasons having a 'wobble' mid season, but you could argue our wobble has been rather prolonged since the start of this season, and more down to the quality of the opposition than much we've particularly done wrong ourselves. A handful of home games we've dropped points and / or performance levels where we've not been able to afford to, but by and large we've competed well. Just a big, big ask against some of the worlds best most weeks and not too many reasons to believe we're capable of putting much of a run together. Nor might we need to to be fair, if we can win 5 games we'll give ourselves a chance. If we're within a point or 2 of 17th going into the final 4 games we'll also give ourselves a chance.

*Grammar Police, can double be used as a verb in that context?

Yes indeed BIG difference in leagues.

I would say that we have had a wobble of sorts of late, in that even against this high quality opposition through the season we’ve really competed and taken the game to opposition often. Including up to Chelsea home and Fulham away. But I think we’ve looked lacklustre against Man City, Liverpool, Brighton, Saints… hoping we do continue the uptick from Coventry and Villa.

The big concern is that I do think Spurs are due a ramp up in form, and there’s been signs of that.

Just really need to get into them. And get PR bouncing.
