Flipping our shape 10:00 - Apr 3 with 1307 views | itfc48 | I'm no elite manager so no idea how hard this would be to facilitate however given we've struggled to fill the Burns/Ogbene role adequately and Townsend's solid performances how about Davis performing the Burns/Ogbene role on the left with Townsend at Left back? This could work well against the likes of Arsenal who favour attacking that side due to Saka.
Flipping our shape on 11:03 - Apr 3 with 1179 views | gsoly | Leif is not a winger. He's a full back who excels at coming from deep. However much it keeps being mooted, it's never going to happen.

If we could have the overload down the left as an option as well as the right by switching personnel that could be very successful for us. It would be hard to predict. People say that we look better with Townsend in defence so we need to find an additional role for Davis. Assuming we get relegated, I hope we learn from this season and come back with new ways to compete in the Premiership.

Flipping our shape on 12:55 - Apr 3 with 995 views | Herbivore | So who is going to be our Davis style right back exploiting the space left by us overloading the the left? I'm not seeing who would fill that role so it wouldn't really be flipping our shape. Davis is a very good attacking full back, but he's not a winger and I don't see the value in us playing two left backs.

You'd play the right-sided 10 wider which would suit Clarke, Hutchinson and Philogene. Davis wouldn't be a full-on winger, he'd play the Johnson and early Burns hybrid role. Right back would just be a bit more defensive to give us more security in transition. It's just a bit bizarre at the moment that our best one-on-one defender is getting more cover than a left-back who's better attacking than defending.

But that's really a change of system and set up rather than flipping things because we'd likely stick with Tuanzebe at right back rather than replacing him with someone who is an attacking full back that can play high. We'd end up with something approaching a conventional 4-4-2 really but with a 10 in behind the central striker rather than two right up top.

The problem with Leif is that he is a full back without that defensive instinct. Brilliant in League One and Championship when we were on the front foot, but a liability in the Premier League. Agree it won't happen but we look more solid without him.
Flipping our shape on 21:23 - Apr 3 with 691 views | tcblue | Sad to say, he's not good enough to change our shape for. Loved what he did for us in the lower leagues - and what he'll no doubt do in the Championship next - but we were so much more solid the times he hasn't been in the team.

He needs a different challenge and needs to work under a different coach who can work on his defensive frailties. If we can still get a decent fee for him it's time to cash in. And Townsend seems a decent temporary replacement.
