For those of you who still feel a little grumpy that we might not make a huge profit on Liam Delap, here's a thought:
A footballer is like a house, and a house is for living in and enjoying your life in. A house is often treated these days as a cold, hard, investment but if you live that way and that way only, you really are missing out in life.
So Liam has given us a year of big, beaming smiles, goals and the destruction of opposition defenders. The street he's in is our street, full of other happy houses even if they're not the most high class houses in what is a very expensive city.
So now we have to downsize; do we rejoice in how much we've enjoyed Liam Delap and the modest profit we're going to make when we sell him and buy a decent house in a still up-and-coming street in the next (more friendly) city along, or do we mope and moan and forget about all the joy we had in Liam Delap for twelve months, and feel miserable because we bought and sold in a not quite optimum time (or way) for optimising our financial investment?
