I will say that I think Chaplin has not hit the heights of 22-23 and first half of 23-24 in the last 18 months.

Sad in some respects, particularly Chappers, Morsy & Broadhead for me are tough pills to swallow, but that's a group that's been and gone and wont be coming back. Things move on, we have to build a new identity with a new group now.

I'm not saying it's not the right decision, but fans let the heart rule the head, especially if the current team is not quite delivering as the fans expect.

Can't disagree, But this is our one shot with parachute money stem of the championships best players adding others, not a good time to make a new team, Fingers crossed, We all have our own thoughts,

It was always going to happen when we got promoted from L1 right through and that squad and their names is in Ipswich folklore forever. I’ve more concerned with who we’ve brought in over the last 3 windows as replacements and some of those fees. That said it’s a bit bizarre that Jack Taylor and H Clarke might be two that’s still around when you think about it. Don’t think Harry plays for us again though maybe his injury has stopped him going out on loan. [Post edited 1 Sep 15:30]

I predict a riot . . . on 15:29 - Sep 1 with 897 views | pointofblue | It is a case of build up. Woolfenden, Burgess, Broadhead and Chaplin, I'd say, are the four who didn't really rewarded for their performances, when given a chance, last season. If they're now all let go, then there will be pressure on post Championship promotion signings to prove their worth.

I posted this in the other Chappers thread but I think it fits here too. "I feel the same. Chappers is one of those players who is greater than the sum of his parts and I understand that some people feel the same way about Woolfie. I'm guessing this is how it must've felt when Cooper and Macall left in 87, the last two of the 81 team."

I think even those of us who feel a greater connection to Woolfenden, as a member of the academy who was the last first team squad player to remain from the pre-Gamechanger days, had prepared for him to leave. The potential Chaplin departure is like a bucket of something cold and unpleasant suddenly being chucked over us. Go back 90 minutes or so and we weren't even thinking about it.

Not a regular starter, and he hasn’t gone to Nodge :) It’s a gut though. Still has a lot to give, and obviously a massive fan favourite. We shall see if the replacements are indeed “upgrades” (I hate that term, so un-simpatico).
