Why would he? He's getting paid well to manage between 10-15 matches per year and the rest of the time travel round and watch football.

Not too sure what to think about this to be honest. On one hand I am glad we have tied down a top manager, but on the other, I quite liked the short term appointment on the basis that he was expected to deliver at the World Cup before any further negotiation.
Either way, if he wins the world cup with us then it is pointless him staying anyway. |  | | |

I think the same kind of panic at the FA led to Capello extending his contract before the 2010 world cup and then regretted it.
He signed to the 2012 Euros, but was sacked before that came around.
I don't see the need to extend. If he performs badly and leaves, so be it.
If he wins the World Cup and leaves?! WHO CARES?! WE WON THE WORLD CUP!!
I like TT, but I think we often fall into this trap of panicking into extending contracts after qualifying campaigns that are pretty much a formality. |  |

Seems a surprising, and potentially misguided decision.
We've had this same situation with both Capello and Southgate, why do we need to commit to a new contract before he's earned it? Surely success at the WC is the requirement for an extended offer?
The qualifiers and friendly performances are hardly a good marker for a decision like this. |  | | |

I dont disagree, and thats his job.
Like I said, I like TT, I think hes doing OK.
I just dont think we necessarily need to offer a new contract.
I'm not hugely against it, but I think we should learn from previous mistakes. | |
