Not the finest performance was it by any stretch.
Was lucky enough to be at the game but could n’t quite work out what formation we played beyond the back 4. Neil and Cajust were CMs and Hirst up front but where were Apron and Egeli playing?. Maybe it was easier to figure out on TV!

KM Also mentioned on the radio players playing in new positions

Egeli was in the 10 role, and Akpom was the left 10.

Egeli had Nunez / Mehmeti’s role
Akpom had Philogene / J Clarke’s role

I couldn't work out the egeli akpom roles

Egeli was supposed to be central yet akpom in his left role kept coming inside but also dropped deep so we ended up with akpom behind egeli behind hirst.

Yeah, mainly. Although Akpom tucked in more than Clarke/Philogene do and Baggott didn’t invert like Leif does. It was noticeable how Baggott didn’t stretch the play on that side. Why he didn’t play central and Greaves on the left is a mystery. At least Greaves does get forward and overlap (even if not very effectively).

It was a very strange night. KM said he was looking at things we might use over the run in, but I can’t see a world where Clarke or Baggot plays left back or Egeli gets the nod over Mehmeti or Nunez. Akpom is the only one I understand from those positions, because Clarke needs a backup while Billy Jean is out.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
