It’s been spoken about a lot but physicality and athleticism need to be at the forefront of recruitment without doubt.
This squad lacks pace and it lacks strength imo. At Championship level you get away with it. As we saw last time we won’t next season. |  |

Pace, pace, pace, a physical number 8 and 9 and a bit more pace.
We have to become a better counter attacking team.
Clarke/ Philo/ Nunez/ Mehmeti/ Egeli are flair players but not PL fast.

I wonder if a new manager means a new set up and shines the light on a few players that would have been used by McKenna but not in other systems or managers favouring other strengths overall. Will Philogene and Clarke, Nunez, egeli even Davis be accommodated by a new coach, or be first names on the team sheet? They were often used in quite specific ways and seen as relatively lightweight etc.
Will players that are more robust be made more use of? Obviously Dara is a shoe in whatever you'd imagine, Matusiwa too, maybe Hirst, Furlong even. Probably not, I'm just waffling and wondering whether everything is up in the air now and the players we thought would be more likely to play might not and vice verca.
Then of course we need 10 or so new players to compliment whichever players a manager does like the look of out of the above. |  | | |

We need pace and power in that midfield.
Also need to sign a striker who knows how to score goals. No good getting someone in who has scored just 2 in 60 appearances.
Appreciate not popular view on here, but for me a new keeper is an absolute must. Walton is a great back up at PL level. Would have thought Palmer or Slicker will move on. | | | |

An awful lot IMO. Looking through that squad list I don't see too many you would hang your hat on as being starters at Premier League level. I know West Ham are a bit of a basket case in some respects, but when you consider the squad they got relegated with and with an experienced manager at the helm, it underlines the levels. Wolves and Burnley nowhere near. Forest, Spurs, Palace etc all relatively close to the bottom 3. We're arguably behind the worst of those 6 right now, let alone the stronger ones.
If you split the squad into a somewhat arbitrary 4 x Tiers of 6 in terms of readiness, we've probably got O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Philogene, J. Clarke, Matusiwa in our Tier 1.
Tier 2 I'd include McAteer, Hirst, Furlong, Nunez, Walton, Taylor.
Tier 3 I'd say Mehmeti, Walle-Egeli, Palmer, Akpom, Johnson, Kipre.
Tier 4: Al-Hamadi, Baggott, H. Clarke, Humphreys, Ogbene, Slicker, Szmodics.
A few there are debatable (Johnson perhaps harshly done by, and generous to Akpom maybe on last seasons evidence) but ultimately we would ideally move on all of tier 4 and half of 3, almost with a view of recruiting an entire tier 1 and the current ones all shifting down a level. Simplistic way of looking at it in some respects but highlights where we're at a little bit. [Post edited 15 Jun 10:46]

Indeed, with a new manager, it’s time to move on from some of the sentimental players.
I think we need the following:
Goalkeeper (not a huge priority)
Right back
Left sided centre back
Back-up to Leif
Two central midfielders
Right winger
Ten
Two strikers
Get rid of: Palmer, H.Clarke, Baggott, Johnson, Humphreys, Ogbene, Burns, Akpom & Ali. [Post edited 15 Jun 10:57]
