Testing riders in the middle of the night is just ridiculous. It must have made it more likely that Jonas wasn’t concentrating with his sleep so badly disturbed.

I know Pog had it in the bag, But having a 2 time winner crash out is never a good thing

Yeah, indeed. The fight for the podium itself was looking fascinating. If it had been a domestique for one of the big boys that would have been disappointing, but to lose Jonas … I know crashes happen … and we haven’t had many favourites drop out in recent times since Primoz kept crashing … but to make it *more likely that one crashes in this way is just unbelievable

I wonder if testing at that hour was prompted by the recent social media and press comments speculating on Drug misuse by Pog with no direct evidence other than his super ability compared to other cyclists. After all testing when it is not expected is likely to catch people out more than at routine times. In the event Vingegard Crashed and Pog had a lacklustre day by his standards leaving a fully rested Evenpoel to win the stage. Drug testing should keep drug cheats out but not effect the results of races. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Glad Remco has come of age in a Tour road stage. Looks happier when the pace and gradient remains consistent and he can stay in rythm. That he could do it on a steep incline augers well. Real shame about Jonas, I am not convinced the 2 am test was the cause, but it can not have helped. The UCI need to get on top the testing protocols. It is like they have gone rogue.

Thing is with Pog, He’s in yellow so gets tested after every stage. I really feel for Vingegaard, Poor guy couldn’t do a thing but was clearly the best of the rest.
