And obviously things we could've done better. But we were unlucky at times with the Nunez slip, the incomprehensible rule that allowed Maguire to carry the ball through almost basketball style but still allow the goal through a quirk of it hitting an opposition player and diverting it in.
I'm sure we could've managed things in those few minutes that finished the game as a contest, but overall encouraged by much of that. |  |

Yeah I think United were going to undo us at some point, going in at 2-0 maybe we would have had a chance but there’s just so much quality to try and keep them at bay.
Not sure about having 3 center backs in a back 4 though, especially when one is out of position. I’d like to see Outtarra eventually take RB role but he probably isn’t dropping his captain or playing a right footer at LCB? |  |

Yep, agree. For a few minutes we fell apart.

Yes the main disappointment was how we coped in those few minutes when Man U really piled the pressure on. We’re quite open aren’t we, which I wasn’t expecting from GON with his reputation for pragmatic football. We’ll hurt teams this year but we’ll ship a lot of goals too.
Certainly some positives. A bit of a reality check and reminder of the gulf in quality won’t hurt. And now we get to see how well we cope with the old cliché of how you react being more important. |  |

I'm not sure if having Liverpool at home next is a good thing or not. Less expectation, and a good chance to learn lessons from today as they're likely to have a lot of the ball. Plus the fans are likely to be more patient; I wonder if there might have been more of an edge if we were playing a Coventry, Fulham or Hull with increased expectation, even at this early stage. Last thing we want is another heavy defeat, though. | |

I can see O'Shea moved into the centre at some stage for Greaves, but actually it generally worked in the first half and I suspect it will be fine for other games. | |
