We don't know yet if VAR looked at the handball and confirmed accidental, or if it just waved through the referee's decision and didn't look at it. Certainly on the TV it was just looking at Greaves. Playing to the whistle is useless when there is VAR.
If there is VAR, the reviews should follow a similar logical interpretation similar to how judges interpret the law - with flexibility and taking into context the whole situation instead of a literal approach leading to illogical and unfair outcomes. If Maguire did not use his hands to push the ball to his feet there would be no shot to hit Greaves and deflect into the net | | | |
