We are second biggest spenders in Europe 18:45 - Sep 2 with 1145 viewsgrow_our_own

Out-spent Real Madrid, Man City, Man Utd, and Arsenal. Barca, Bayern & PSG aren't even in the top 10. By spending this summer, this Friday night is between the two biggest clubs in world football. Come a long way since playing on a cow field in Fleetwood in 2023.

....not total spend.

We are 7th in the Prem for total spend.

We just haven't made any money flogging our players this summer.

Net spend is surely more pertinent anyway, Shirley.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Why are we wasting that much money on nets when we still need a right back and a centre back?

It's just sad that Sky TV and the Premier League have effectively broken continuity with the Football League. It's clear you have to buy a brand new team in the top division.

...our net spend this summer is actually the 7th highest in the history of the Premier League (when football was invented).

Which is ridiculous.

But it does show that we need to sell players to become sustainable.

If we stay up this season, I expect we'll see a quiet summer next year!

It is remarkable really. And I'll bet if you asked anyone at Hull a couple of seasons ago if they thought they'd be 7th biggest net spenders in Europe at the start of 2026/2027 season, they'd have thought you'd probably need to see a Psychiatrist! The madness of the PL for you.

If we stay up we can make £50 million plus of transfers out without even blinking, let alone any wanting to move on to better things. You'd imagine Clarke, Philogene, Mehmeti, Mcateer, Egeli(?), Taylor, Nunez, Akpom, Kipre, Palmer, Walton, Greaves, could all be looked at moving on depending on 100 permutations obviously.

And conversely if we go down you'd imagine we can sell 5 or 6 of the big names for £100 million or so. We wouldn't necessarily recoup every penny, but nor would we lose everything either. So no matter what we'll get a chunk of money back by default almost, barring something truly disastrous.

Net spend is only on goalkeepers.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
