Just seen the above show at the Arts Theatre off Leicester Square, probably one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was followed by a talk by the writers, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, who then took questions from the audience.
The theatre, due to my illness/disability/impending demise, upgraded our seats to the front of the circle, and refused to charge for my wife's ticket as she is my carer.
Brilliant, and true, story about WW1 which I would thoroughly recommend.

I've seen the film and I loved it. Hislop is a bit of an idol really.
I'm guessing the health isn't improving? All my best wishes to you Joe!

There was a version on BBC2 a few years ago. It was superb.

Thanks Sticky, the health is being managed but will never improve, but nights like tonight make it worth doing some normal stuff.

I saw the TV version, that is what made me want to see the play. It took it to another level to be honest, and tonight Hislop said that it was far better now, rewritten for the stage.

Very best of luck to you in the impending showdown of the Prediction League, Joe! Just 5 points needed to overhaul the leader from your current 5th place - hope it's a freescoring game! (I'll have a word with MM for you shall I? ;/ ).

Poll: Why can't/don't we protest like the French do? 🤔

I've lost my touch the prediction league I'm afraid, I've gone from 2nd to 5th in the last couple of weeks. After the Burton and Newcastle results I got overly optimistic.
I'm not sure having a word with Mick will change his tactics, you could try asking Terry if he could ask the strikers to face the opposition goal.

Glad you can feel more normal for a night out at least.

I've heard it was good, need to get myself sorted and go see it really.

Fantastic to see you are still able to get out and about and commendable that you chose to exercise that ability with a serious evening at the theatre but sometimes I think serious can be a lot more rewarding than frivolous. Sounds like you made a good choice and I shall be looking out for the play if it tours.

It's running until 13th May in London, but tours the country between September and November. No Ipswich dates I'm afraid, nearest would be Southend.

Really worth a trip to see though.

Glad you let me know it ends in London next week or I would probably have missed it!

Booked for next week. Thanks.

It was on at the New Wolsey a few months ago. Absolutely superb.

NWT is very, very good for disabled access btw, with carer seats next to wheelchair spaces.

Someone bought me the complete set of Wipers Times issues for Christmas (reproduced in book format) and it's a great read. The humour is strikingly similar to Private Eye.

Many thanks, will look out for it somewhere in Yorkshire (guessing it might go to WY Playhouse in Leeds).

Cheers for the heads up on this Joe, I went last night.

It really was excellent, very funny but poignant too in places. A handful of historical anachronisms but I'll let them pass. The London run is nearly finished but it's on at a few places around the country - and recommended if it's local to anyone.
