It could be that it’s just clogged up with fluff from where it’s been in your pocket. Get a plastic cotton bud, cut one end off and use it to clean out the part where you plug it in to charge.

A chap in the Apple store in Cambridge said a wooden cocktail stick/tooth pick is good for getting fluff and general grime out of charger sockets.

Have you tried putting it in the microwave? Some of the later iPhone models can be charged like that, usually 30 seconds should do.

I think the apple-approved advice is 'throw your phone away and buy another one for a lot of money'.

Extremely rich, strong and handsome? Well, I'm hard pushed but would have to agree.

He must have a wild imagination then.

As others have mentioned and I know you've said you've done it, but give the port a really good clean. I used a flattened out stapel and got so much fluff and stuff out, angle it right into the corners.

If the phone is dead and simply not charging when you plug it in, it could be that the battery has gone flat and got cold to a point that it will not take on a charge. This has happened to me and I read a trick that if you blow a hairdryer on the back of the phone from a couple of inches for circa 30 seconds it will then warm the battery enough to allow it to take and hold a charge... So after trying multiple chargers I did this and it worked, so worth giving it a go.

Blowing hard in the hole or switching it off and on again sometimes works
