Wheel Of Time 16:51 - Jan 22 with 593 views | GeoffSentence | Has anyone managed to plough their way through the whole series of books? It's a 14 book series, 15 if you include the prequel, four and a half million words, took 23 years to write and Robert Jordan died before it was finished and Brandon Sanderson completed it. So safe to say it is a bit of a marathon. I started it based on the fact that I enjoyed Game Of Thrones and that Netflix (or is it Amazon) are producing a TV version. Currently I am three books in and so far it has been a bit groundhog day, each one has followed a similar format and culminated in pretty much the same way. So, TWOT veterans, should I persevere?

Not in books 1-3 maybe someone pops up doing that in 4-14.

I did buy the others as they came out but it reached a stage where it would have meant starting from the beginning again as I had left it so long and no way could I have picked it up again. It's very slow, and it gets slower before it gets quicker as you progress. There are books when you get to the end and you realise that actually nothing has really changed, and what was covered might have been done in a chapter in other books. The women in it pull their hair/braid a lot when annoyed, that's probably what the reference was above, lots of the characters have 'twitches' which they do an inordinate amount of times. That said, I really enjoyed it but I am a fantasy nut and Brandon Sanderson is one of my favourite authors. Unsurprisingly I have finally dived back in with the Netflix show forthcoming and am currently midway through book two, I do have the advantage of being a very quick reader. My one major annoyance thus far has been the fact that despite thinking I owned all the books, I couldn't find my copy of book 2. When I went to order it on the 'zon it appears that the kindle version has been withdrawn and you can't buy it in the UK, so I had to buy and read it the old fashioned way. I'm not going to say stick with it because it's the kind of thing that you either enjoy or you don't, and if you find the first 2 or 3 books slow then it's just going to get worse for you as you go along. I obviously can't comment on the last few, and hopefully Sanderson is a bit more concise when he picks up. Iwill just add that if you haven't read Brandon Sanderson before he really is worth a go, he's written some great books.
