Think this defeat could be a watershed match for Lambert! 23:42 - Feb 9 with 1537 viewsbrazil1981

Obviously a lot on here have had the daggers out for a while now, however I believe many were like myself...p*88ed off with the poor form but hoping (with maybe delusion) that a 'big' result would have us back on way to promotion. I think this is backed up by the big crowd at P'boro match, people still believed it was possible!

However, these 2 latest results have really knocked stuffing out of any blind optimism that was left. Dropping out of the play-off sums up where most now think our season is heading and I fear the players will be feeling the same. I can see home crowds plummeting now and the mood start to get ugly! Back to last MM days!

It certainly feels like we’ll be watching the rest of the season through our fingers. The next two games are eminently winnable, though you never quite know which Burton will turn up. Fail to win either of those games though, and I would guess that confidence/belief will be on the floor.

To be fair sacking a Manager a few weeks after giving them a 5 year deal would indeed be peak Banter Era.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Our run in is decent, I think we will scrape the p'offs. Which almost definitely means that whatever happens from that point this season will be judged a success by Mad Evans.

Mr Town will probably go back to telling us all what a great job PRP is doing in that scenario.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

One wonders who advised that a 5-year deal (rather long by normal standards) was a good idea. Was it O'Neill, or something Evans thought up himself? Was it aping the Cobbolds with Robson? Was Lambert threatening to walk out otherwise? Or was it just hubris after a great start to the season?

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I'm guessing a combination of all of the above.

I think he was aping the Cobbolds and trying to make himself look ultra astute while attempting to "connect" with the fans by harking back to the good old days.

Just made himself look a bit silly.....

Here is what I genuinely think about this. Evans doesn't care about us and wants to devote as little of his time as possible to us. Hence he decided to give his Manager a long term deal, "get on with it and give me a monthly update, this is the budget, this is your Boss (O'Neill)", as long as the club is more or less competitive Evans will be more or less happy.
I don't blame Evans for thinking this way as he has a very large business to run (and is by an informed account very hands-on with it).
