2nd half was very poor 17:56 - Feb 22 with 733 viewsthebooks

Too hurried and panicked — no real plan to break Oxford down, who looked more likely to score.

Jackson did stamp on the Oxford player. The brawl at the end summed us up: ill-disciplined, ineffective.

Lambert right, though — we should have scored in the first half where we were pretty good for 30 minutes or so.

Was the first time the North Stand aired a “Lambert, sort it out” song, and it was ugly at the end. If we had any ambition he’d be in real trouble.

Still think we’ll make top 6 because of our run-in, but this is dire to watch.

Karl Robinson’s obviously a good manager... Darren Moore... Michael Appleton. I suspect one of these will be next up.

Nope, none of those as ME would have to pay compensation to their respective clubs. ME is ‘cheap’ like the bird, that’s why we’re in this mess.

I hung around for a while at the end just to see the reaction. It was pretty toxic. Lots of boos and aggressive gestures aimed towards Taylor and Lambert when they went to applaud the north stand.
The 2nd have was real desperation. No one taking control. We needed a goal and yet Sears was on the bench until 90th min. Players losing their heads.
It’s very frustrating and sad. It’s just years of decline and crap

I reckon we should sack the manager every time we lose a game

Yeah, I felt the crowd “turned” against Lambert today — there have been grumbles and boos before but never direct songs against him. There’s normally a section of the NS that *always* sings ”Paul Lambert is a blue“, but I didn’t hear it today.

Like I say, if there was any ambition at the club this would be the end game for him, but he’s here until the end of the season. I think he’ll walk if we’re not promoted, but leave only then.

Yep, depressing.

Mick Mills said the opposite, we have 24 players on first team wages, so if you want new blood sell 10 of them and get into transfer market

Spot on. If only we had carried on playing as we had in the first half we might have eventually got something out of it. But we were poor and didn't create anything in the second half, save that one that fell at Edwards feet.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.
