Graham Medley on Newsnight..... 23:01 - Mar 12 with 2566 views | unstableblue | ... has to be watched if you can on iPlayer or BBC web site He was one of the chief modellers that is driving England, Wales,NI strategy for Covid-19 He's basically saying he wants the healthy herd to become infected and build immunity, and for the herd to perceive they are already infected and consider not spreading to vulnerable people School closures is seeing the herd getting closer to the vulnerable people such as Grandparents It seems to have merit, significantly the smoothing of the infection impact on NHS, but seems a somewhat of a gamble His analogy was he'd put all the vulnerable people into north Scotland, then let the herd of those who can build immunity in Kent, and after a time, bring them back together again Fascinating, but somewhat bonkers. Then on Newsnight the experts challenging it then contrast Italy and the fact their NHS is at breaking point. Concerning. One lesson from this - we need the BBC, talk of its degradation should be kicked into the long grass.

Graham Medley on Newsnight..... on 23:05 - Mar 12 with 2520 views | StokieBlue | I think he was spot on theoretically and it made perfect sense. Very interesting to model epidemics with regards to the maths and the social aspects. Whether theory translates to reality is a different question. SB
Graham Medley on Newsnight..... on 23:05 - Mar 12 with 2512 views | Guthrum | A lot of this turns on whether immunity can be built up. The common cold (another Coronavirus) has, after all, not been rendered extinct by everybody catching it. Reinfection is frequent.

It seems we are following a very very different path to the rest of Europe But the follow-up experts seem to have concerns on the herd immunity plan,in that if this hits the population to quickly, intensive care equipment and capacity will not cope At least this is putting a light on Trump as his utter utter b*llsh!t

Graham Medley on Newsnight..... on 23:15 - Mar 12 with 2452 views | BanksterDebtSlave | So my immediate thought would be that a lot of kids have pretty unhealthy parents never mind grandparents. Watching QT it would appear that the government has indeed been going out of its way to allow the virus in....do they want a short sharp hit to the economy rather than a more drawn out affair I wonder?

Yes - one expert was just saying (despite his worry about intensive care capacity) unless the herd builds immunity, autumn 2020 will see it start again.... I did read 26C kills Covid-19.... here's to another scorching summer Premier League have just called emergency meeting after Artteta, Lineker calling for season cancellation. Poor Liverpool.

If 26C kills COVID-19 then humans have nothing to worry about, given that core body temperature is 37C...

... that’s what the chief modeller guiding the UK Government strategy calls the population majority who can handle the virus, and should contract it

The thing is it's very hard to criticise Boris, regardless of what the rest of Europe are doing, if he is following the advise of his experts. We've been asking him to do that for years. SB

I think he means outside of a host, i.e. on surfaces. There has been some evidence that higher temperatures inhibit the survival of C-19.

Obviously I bow to your superior intellect and knowledge of all things but maybe the intensity of UV has a part to play.

Not for Tories it isn't; they average out at about -5C, although Priti Patel does drag that figure down.

I think this has only been proven for other coronaviruses? Also it doesn't affect direct transfer through fluids or coughing, it's literally it just lives a bit less time on surfaces. SB
