Yes, could be a Fujiwhara effect, where 2 hurricanes or tropical storms join as one. It will be a close run thing. Very interesting to see what happens.

I watched a weather report from a Houston based TV station on YouTube this morning.
The presenter kept assuring his viewers it's going to miss Houston and slam into Louisianna so no big deal. He didn't care one jot that both hurricanes were going to impact on New Orleans.
This 'sucks to be you' attitude seems to be prevelant in the states.
