When you consider that arguably our 4 best players were out and we played the second half with an unfit Norwood, I don't think we can complain about that too much. The scoreline was a bit harsh on Wigan, but they're far from a basket case and will survive comfortably with a couple of additions. The first half was the best I've seen from Dozzell and Bishop in a Town shirt and Nolan seemed to make some nice passes under pressure. Drinan was quite unlucky to come off, and deserves to start next week unless Jackson is available. We saw the August 2018 version of Edwards when he came on, but who knows if he'll turn up against Bristol Rovers.

Defence is still a bit of a concern though. Despite the clean sheet, Nsiala never looked completely comfortable and the 2 free kicks missed by Sears showed that we miss Garbutt's set pieces.

Overall a 7/10 performance - can't complain.

Defence is a concern but two of those four missing players are defenders so I think a bit of shakiness can be excused there. We do really need KVY and Woolfenden back if we're to do anything this season though.

I don't think Wigan will survive comfortably at all. They will need far more strength in depth than they currently have. However, any side that expects them to be a pushover will be in for a rude awakening.

Indeed - Nsiala and Wilson can hold their own against lesser teams but won't be strong enough if we're to challenge for promotion.

Possibly - but we played them when they weren't suffering from any burnout. I think their First XI is 2 or 3 players away from being solidly mid table and they'll need another couple for depth. I imagine they'll get them in just before the deadline as they're a more attractive proposition than Bolton were last year and there's a bigger pool of free agents available.

Strength in depth irrelevant for today.

Not really; I think the fact we could call on Norwood, Edwards and Huws really helped us, in the case of the latter two when it looked like the game was slipping away.
