True I was being a tad sensationalist. But the way Lambert framed it was if he could have done nothing about the situation.

He wasn’t injured for the entirety of any of Lamberts seasons here? It also doesn’t really go back further , he started in the opening game of 2017/18 aged 18 in which he broke his leg. He only then came back from that the following season during which Lambert was manager for 3/4 of the season, plus last season. Lambert started him in 21 of 78 games in that period - 6 of those being cup matches Clearly he couldn’t have got to 100 games under Lambert but the point remains true that Lambert had seldom used him until this season, which makes that particular quote somewhat ridiculous

Yeah I see your point. Glad he's regular now. A lot of people (rightly) said he didn't influence games enough, but I was always one of those who thought he needed an extended run to get that going.

Yeah I got confused by Lankaster. I personally would've played him more but I can fully understand why he didn't. A significant amount of people on here wouldn't have played him either. "It also doesn’t really go back further, he started in the opening game of 2017/18 aged 18." You've contradicted yourself there. He made his debut at 16, like his dad, and he wasn't a regular for those 2 years up to the opening game of 2017/18. So yes, it does go back further. [Post edited 6 Nov 2020 16:16]

Indeed, but those people presumably wouldn’t say things like “The scary thing is, and this is how far the club had gone back, those three kids had not made a 100 league starts...” acting like it was the clubs fault rather than them failing to play said player for the majority of their reign... EDIT: just seen your edit. He made his debut in April 16 and had his injury in August 17. That isn’t 2 years [Post edited 6 Nov 2020 16:28]

Yeah it's a slightly odd comment. Maybe he meant Dozzell should've been forcing his way in and it's more a comment on the player? Or maybe he just forgot that he's the reason Dozzell hasn't played more! To be fair, he was talking about 3 players at once.

Dozzell could have played more under Lambert. As for Lancs, see Bishop. The bloke is a total plank and needs to get his head out of his ass. [Post edited 6 Nov 2020 18:03]

"Dozzell could easily have played 100 under Lambert." Given that Lambert has managed us for 90 games, I'm not sure how that works!

Yeh, I know. Changed that. Lambert could have picked him a lot more though if he thought he was that good. My bad.
I can’t believe Dozzell hasn’t played 100 games on 19:56 - Nov 6 with 760 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I think the comments were more about their repeated serious injuries. To play Dozzell or any of them too much too quickly after a serious injury could be a bad mistake. I don't see the comment as being criticism of selection as much as the amount of time lost from them due to injury. It is great to see them fit, playing regularly and playing well. Long may it continue (although may it also go on record every time all three start a match there are a number of posters stating it is far too lightweight a midfield).

Every now and then he drifts out of games but equally he can pull off killer passes that nobody in our squad can do except for maybe Bishop. Won’t be at all surprised if they’re both playing in the premier league next season

Weirdly now Dozzell is away all of November it might actually help us because let's face it we're waiting each game for an important player to break down. Gives him a chance to recharge before our mammouth December. Only issue is God knows who will play his role as there isn't anyone good enough/brave enough to do it. I'd be tempted to go 442 with Jackson Hawkins having potential to be a really good duo up top.

For all our pretty passing our problem recently has been a lack of creating genuine chances. We will need to do something different and partnering two strikers may be a wise move. I feel Lambert has become invested in this system now, though. He needs a little flexibility if it does not suit the personnel available, though. He also needs to ensure that when we do play it, we play the passing game higher up the pitch.
