It all comes back to Evans... 00:52 - Nov 25 with 734 views | wkj | Something old - Paul Jewell Something new - Paul Hurst Something borrowed - Paul Lambert (from Scum) Something Blue? - Burley, Dyer, McGreal, Holland etc etc It doesn't really matter, the likelihood is most will fail here. We have a rich but very sh*t chairman that is happy for us to revel in the old days and fire out some bullsh*t slogan every year for renewals based on our sentiment. Evans needs a miracle worker to be considered a success here, I would almost rather we become crap and destitute as a club with someone that gives a toss for football, let alone the club. Right now we have someone with no clue about what ITFC means, no care to really find out what it means and to continually feed us soundbites and reminders of what we want but seem increasingly likely not to get. Evans needs to stop hiring people that are expected to be a total club manager and ease his burden, and get someone in that understands football and wants success regardless of any pedigree or history the club has. Each passing season our legacy seems to be slipping further and further away. Whilst it should always be cherished we need to get on the ticket of where we are in the here and now, and that begins with Evans in my opinion. He may be unable or willing to pump transfer funds into the club but to continually deny us the richness of passion and clarity from the top is unforgivable... it is something he absolutely can and should be doing, and isn't and wont. We're out of options barring a miracle worker and the man on the top of the mountain needs to understand the plight of the towns folk or else his sheriffs are going to continue to f**k the kingdom up in his name. It all comes back to Evans... on 04:40 - Nov 25 with 631 views | stiff_talking | We have continually identified key targets but not been prepared to pay market price for quality. We over pay managers who are incapable of managing teams without quality players. When Our youth policy develops a quality player Evans wants to sell before they make 25 appearances. It does all come back to Evans as he controls the above circle !

Fans buyout with the above would be the ultimate goal. Only local guy I know with any money is Mr Sheeran but I can't see it happening. He does sponsor a church choir in the town... Wishful thinking?

It all comes back to Evans... on 08:36 - Nov 25 with 426 views | FrankfurtBlue | Well said! Agree with you. Have been saying for years that the Ipswich first team manager has to do too much, (including in Lambert's case, PR), instead of concentrating on coaching the first team, identifying where we need to strengthen that team, and working on tactics against the next opponent(s). An experienced Director of Football should be responsible for recruitment, including the appointment of the first team manager. Long term strategy? Research/counter-tactics on opponents? Sports science/Medical/Physio etc? Youth development? Sure, you can appoint a first team manager, who is responsible for it all, but splitting the roles/responsibilities and having experienced and dedicated people do what they are best at can only help the first team manager be successful. For example, why was Paul Hurst recruited when his intention was to rip the heart out of a decent enough team, only to replace them with expensive failures? Why don't we sell players when we consider it to be the right time for us, for top dollar, and only after considering an internally prepared and continually updated list of suitable replacements? Could carry on and on with examples of mis-management. Probable answer, nobody at ITFC is responsible other than Marcus Evans, and he simply does not have the time, skills and experience necessary to do the job any better. For years I have been asking myself why we are being left behind by the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton, Watford, Brentford, Fulham, Burnley, Palace, Swansea etc. Clubs that we used to be streets ahead of, in every way. Money is the simple answer, and it does partly apply, but a club can be competitive by working clever, having a good management structure in which well recruited people work. Off the field is the same as on it - if your set up is good, and everyone knows their job and performs well, you tend to be more successful in the long term. Football is not as simple as appoint a good manager and let him get on with it all. If the infrastructure is not there, you need a miracle worker, as WKJ says.

That is all on him. We were underpowered in the Championship no doubt, but ME has rebuffed bids for players to keep the squad together since relegation, he's allowed Lambert to sign players like Norwood on big money for this level, £500k on KVY is a wedge for a League 1 side too. His mistake, and it's a big one admittedly, since relegation is that he's failed to sack a manager who is so obviously clueless that ME had to tell him how to do his job.
