John Le Carré RIP on 22:26 - Dec 13 with 927 views | itfcjoe | Really sad to read, one of my favourite authors and has moved with the times so well over the years - a once in a generation writer

Agreed. The TV series of Tinker, Tailor is wonderful. I've got, but not yet started to read, Agent Running In The Field.

John Le Carré RIP on 09:05 - Dec 14 with 765 views | Basuco | Very sad news, he was a great writer and I have really enjoyed his books for many years, the big budget TV adaptation of the Night Manager was brilliantly done and was a great complement to a fantastic book.

Le Carré makes a short appearance in the Tinker Tailor film. He gets a credit too, so if you're ever on Pointless...

John Le Carré RIP on 10:55 - Dec 14 with 707 views | azuremerlangus | In the 1979 series Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy one of the episodes in the background there is a football match on the TV. I believe we are playing in it. Hopefully Factual will know the details...

John Le Carré RIP on 10:57 - Dec 14 with 699 views | tractordownsouth | He lived in St Buryan for 40 years, and funded the clubhouse for the village football team where I played for a couple of years. I never met him myself, but my Dad, who likes to write screenplays in his spare time, was invited over to his place for a drink when he was working at the local school about 20 years ago, which was a very nice gesture. I'm not a big fiction reader so I've not read any of his books but by all accounts he was a good bloke.
