This league is tragic 08:44 - Dec 16 with 781 viewshype313

Seeing the results last night just goes to show how turgid this league really is, and how poor Lambert is.

A scrappy win against the basement boys is a win, but dear oh dear we don't make it hard for ourselves eh.

To be honest Lambert or no Lambert with Downes, Bish and Norwood back we should absolutely walk this league, which is why Marcus is probably hesitating to fire Lambert.

It's a worse league this year than last imo, and that's saying something as I thought it was utter toss last year. That we're still struggling to impose ourselves on it is utterly embarrassing. Lambert needs to go ASAP, a competent manager wouldn't be having to scrape spawny wins at home to the bottom side just to give an illusion of being in the hunt.

I've been vociferously critical of Evans recently, but it ain't about transfer budgets. A better owner would not be looking at the table but rather getting the right people in regardless. The kind of move the press call "ruthless". Evans must have been ruthless somewhere along the line in business, such a shame he doesn't bring that to ITFC.

The pandemic has put a nasty kybosh on things, ordinarily Lambert would have been gone a long time ago, but finances dictate.

A ruthless businessman would have got rid of Lambert and installed someone competent to make sure we go up at a canter, leaving no stone unturned.

I wish I could agree with you here but sadly I can't blame the pandemic or anything else for Lambert still having keys to the office

It's simply Evans acting too slowly ,5 year contract and sadly I think , being quite happy with a lesser nett loss per season living life in Division 3. Suits Evans totally

Evans has found his level and he's happy

The Championship is much worse as well, the premier league and dramatically fallen in quality much more than the rest of the EFL. I can't see why this chould be as the EFL is starved of funds causing the quality of football to fall but but the premier league is better funded than it has ever been, but apart from Man City, Leeds and Liverpool the quality of football has just fallen off a cliff compared with 5 or 6 years ago. (In my opinion that is)

Have to disagree, the loss of income has hugely skewed the landscape of football, giving him a 5 year contract was clearly suicidal, but the pandemic has made it worse as it would cost huge sums to fire him in a climate of decreased revenue.

Think this season in particular it's hard to underestimate how much of an impact the pandemic has had. Months without training, then packed schedules, no fans in the ground creating a bit of a weird atmosphere. It's why I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset with a minnow like Spurs nicking the title this season.

That bit I agree with if .....and it's a big IF Evans were to pay PL off. I still truly believe ME is now happy taking a lesser loss living and loving life in Division 3

We get promoted he's back to his standard £5-6 m loss per season before any other accounting is taken in consideration

Maybe I'm far too cynical perhaps

Agree, I can also see Spurs winning it this season, City have no firepower and the loss of Silva has hit them hard, interesting to see Sociedad top of La Liga with him pulling the strings.

Chelsea and Utd are far too inconsistent and Liverpool seem to be having a bit of a hangover.

Part of me was thinking along the same lines as you with regards to being in this league, but first and foremost he bought this club as an investment, he had no affinity with the place, and like all investments they want a return, he won't get one staying in League One.

Get into the Championship and you might have a fighting chance of promotion (in our case, fluking one) or the ability to sell.

I think you're definitely too cynical. The only way to get any money for the club is to be back in the Championship. Nobody is going to pay much for a third division club, being one promotion away from the big bucks of the PL is much more appealing for a prospective buyer. And with the new caps in the Championship the losses will be limited and can easily be covered by a player sale here and there. Top Championship players are going for £20m these days, someone like Downes is a £10m player at least if he has half a decent season in the Championship, at this level £4m is about his ceiling. If someone like Lankester or Dobra can grab a few goals and put in some eye catching performances they are £15m players all of a sudden in that league. It's mad, but that's how things have changed in recent years. Evans needs to get us back to that level and he's backed Lambert well to achieve it. Sadly he's once again backed the wrong horse.

Yesterday doesn't really change anything, just buys Lambert a bit longer when evidence of the league table doubled up with injuries can be presented.

Perhaps I am too cynical but it's amazing how supporting our club can make you

I see your mechanics behind your argument but again I could never see us having the professionalism or the negotiating skills to be able to sell a player (regardless of ability) for £10m+ .

Things dreams are made of

I'd be happy right now to live life being a second Brentford and cashing in on excellent purchases and youth and being a stable / competitive Championship team

Don't really care for the Prem with the glitz and glamour , just make our once great club something to be reasonably proud of again

We can only hope
