So if the predictable happens and we do not go up what does our squad look like next year, considering we’re only allowed twenty players who are 20-years old or over? Obviously there may be signings but based on who we have now: Goalkeepers: Cornell, Holy Defenders: Kenlock, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden Midfielders: Bishop, Dobra, Downes, Dozzell, El Mizouni, McGavin, Nydam Strikers: Drinan, Hawkins, Jackson, Lankester, Norwood First of all we’ll need to make decisions with the defence as I think I’m right in saying that Chambers, Nsiala, Wilson and Ward are all expiring. I assume we’ll offer Chambers and maybe Ward something but let Nsiala and Wilson go. If he stays I wonder if Baggott might be given a shine though I can see us trying to bring in another senior player on a free transfer. As this season, we don’t lack numbers in midfield and two from Dobra, El Mizouni, McGavin and Nydam could be sent out on loan to lighten the restrictions there. Of course, if we cash in on any of Bishop, Downes or Dozzell plans will change. Edwards is an interesting one as his contract is up and I can see him leaving on a free. We could let Drinan go but I think he could offer us something at this level. I imagine it will be a case of cash in or extend contract in relation to Jackson whilst I think I’m right in saying Hawkins, Lankester and Norwood have another year left. We do need a poacher but in truth we’ll need to adapt to what we have, something Lambert has, time and again, failed to do. | |
