Going back a few years - working away in Germany. We were on expenses and only had to pay for a couple of things, excess beers (first two on the company) and pay per view on the hotel TV system.
Now ordinarily, ppv would "black out" after 3 minutes and you would have the choice to enter your room number to unblock it and continue to watch whatever adult movie you may have chosen (Apparently). But this hotel did it slightly differently. If you chose to watch an adult movie, the warning came up that after 3 minutes you'd be automatically charged the 7 marks to you room.
So there was a bit of a running joke, if someone left the bar early, that they'd better be quick if knocking one out before going to sleep.
So Friday morning we are checking out after 5 nights and the guy in front of me queries why he was being charged 35 marks as he'd definitely only had 2 beers each evening. The checkout girl, in perfect English states "Pay per view television sir, 5 times".
So after stopping myself laughing, I agreed to be discreet and not share this with anyone on the project team. Apart from the project leader. We got him a 3-minute egg timer and presented it to him at the next team brief :-)

I went on a school trip to Berlin, and we had a similar scenario, we must have all been 15/16
School had spoken to the hotel, and ensured all PPV services were unavailable in the rooms, obviously the first thing we all did was check, and lo and behold it was on.
Porn was basically on in everyone's room for the whole trip at all times, shared rooms of 2 or 3 and more having a laugh than anything seedy and people sitting their tossing themselves of all day.
Came to the checkout and the massive porn bill is there for the teachers, cue a big argument between it not being available and having been switched off etc......in the end I think the school had to pay a chunk of the bill for 15-16 of us to watch massive amounts of German porn, which we all of course denied |  |
