Harrop will be key 07:34 - Feb 2 with 1137 viewsgordon

The rest of the loans / changes are basically a waste of time - but if we intend to play Harrop centrally, as a no. 10 in behind the striker then it could make a difference. The problem for most of the season has been not committing enough men forward, having an isolated striker, not having options for forward passes because our midfielders are holding the centre-backs hands.

It's not impossible that Harrop (if he replaces Judge, and if he's decent) might change the shape of the team and make us a bit more effective.

Just his set pieces alone will make a difference. Having a dead ball specialist, and threat from these, rather than our lofted floaters into the box, will make add a lot.

Love how we write off players before they've even played, it's up there with tagging players on Twitter and telling them they're rubbish.

Matheson looked really good at Rochdale, a good attacking full back which will release Chambers to come back into centre back if that's needed.

We're obviously desperately short of numbers and confidence up top so any additions there are welcome.

How about we back them all?

How about we commit to playing two up front??

Agreed that would work better, but in the absence of a manager willing to do that, a proper number 10 is the next best thing in my opinion.

Happy to back them all - just think loan signings should be players who make a difference, not just bulk out the squad. Between Chambers, Donacien, Cotter, Crowe, and Vincent-Young (back playing today apparently), we've got enough right-backs at this level, for example.

The reason we sign players when we've already got enough is because when something isn't quite working, Lambert doesn't know what it is / isn't able to make it work, so the only thing he can do is just try different players, and hope that solves the problem. That just isn't how you manage a football club.

Have been reading up on Parrott and if he is as good as many in the game say he is then he has to play, but play him in a front two, Drinian/Parrott, Norwood/Parrott, even Jackson/Parrott.

But please not up front on his own. And definitely not a bench warmer. If Jose really rates him then he must have something about him.

But with a muppet as a manager it is obvious he will either bench warm or be up top on his own!!

"Lofted floaters" by name and nature...

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

I don't think anyone is writing off the players we've got in. They're writing off the ability of this manager to get a tune out of them (or any conceivable player we get through the door).

But what are you basing them 'bulking out the squad' on? That's just writing them off.

Luke Thomas has looked a bright spark going forward already, adding a bit of a drive forward we haven't had.

From what I've seen of Matheson previously he would make all the difference to right back. We can't rely on KVY yet, he's been out a long time and needs to be eased back in otherwise we risk losing him for longer. Chambers gives it his all, but ultimately he isn't a right back and definitely not an attacking one. Losing that attack down the right has really had an effect on us in the past year and hopefully Matheson and KVY can bring that back.

I think they're all good signings, hard not to see all of them starting and therefore they're improving the squad and not bulking it out.

Quite agree with you there .

In Thomas, Parrott and Harrop with now have some pace further up the pitch …together with Edwards, Bishop, Dozzell & Downes...we really SHOULD be ripping it up second half of season, especially if Norwood could ever get bloody fit !!
