The Pfizer vaccine 09:09 - Feb 13 with 1348 viewsnoggin

Interesting story from a nursing home near me. 8 residents tested positive on the day they received their second dose. Another resident who refused the vaccine also tested positive the same day. The person who refused the vaccine has now died. Unfortunately I don't know the health status of the others but none of them have died. It appears to support the theory that the vaccine won't stop you catching Covid but that it will reduce the symptoms.

I think that goes for all vaccines, not just covid one's, only a complete idiot or someone who has been advised by their GP, (not facebook or twitter) should refuse the covid vaccine, we have seen that un-checked the virus will mutate amongst those not vaccinated and could produce a variant not covered by the current vaccine.

Indeed.

It's intended to stop severe cases and hospitalisations and anecdotally from your example it seems to be working excellently.

Brother had Covid, they delayed his vaccination until 28 days after he tested positive. Surprised they were vaccinated if tested positive.

Be interesting to know how many in the care home.

They were tested after they had received the second dose, I imagine because someone was showing symptoms or because a staff member had tested positive.

Was chatting on phone last night with friend who lives in Leeds. She's almost (but not quite yet) won a friend of hers round into having the first one, but apparently there's strong resistance so far in the Leeds BAME community to getting any Covid vacc on the grounds of "people being used as guinea pigs". So sad & frustrating.

Even sadder is that the BAME community is even more at risk from covid the the white community, this vaccine has been tested on humans since February at various levels, I am sure any problems would have been noticed before now.

Yes I know.

The friend who I was chatting with on phone is over 70 but fit & healthy, no underlying health conditions. She thinks the reason she got her first jab surprisingly early - 2nd week of Jan - is that there was such a low take up of jabs by the most/more vulnerable in her postcode area, which has a large BAME population.
