In which case it would be massively unprofessional because it’s their job to uphold the laws of the game, not harbour petty grudges. However the quality of League One referees is so low I’d hesitate to call them professional in the first instance.

I wouldn't be so sure, Refs are very competitive (as many roles) to get recognised for the bigger jobs. If anything they might well all buck their ideas up a bit seeing as someone in their pay grade is getting investigated
