For the life of me I can't see why car manufactures can't do the same thing?

Will keep an eye out for that. Stuff on landing approach for Stavvy comes virtually over where I live.

Battery size and accessibilty, at a guess. Much larger unit to store, especially given the quantities required. Heavier to handle. Some are mounted under the floor of the vehicle, so not easy to remove without ramps and the like. Wider variety of batteries for different sizes of vehicle (could be overcome by making them modular). Riskiness of handling units with higher power ratings (short circuits, fire, electrocution).

Not sure that you will be able to hear it coming....,unlike, for example, a Merlin engine But it looks fab

Yep, you'd have to disassemble the car and then somehow swap over batteries weighing up to about 500kg.

I’d go the other way and say it looks more like the Spitfire’s predecessor, the Supermarine S.6b. Minus the floats of course.

Is what they weigh? Guess car drivers will have to put up with waiting/charging then :-(

Big box full of metal and chemicals. Batteries are exceedingly heavy for the amount of energy they store. Unfortunately, they are currently the only way of storing electricity safely and efficiently on a small/medium scale.
